SEASONAL WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS REMAIN IN EFFECT
 UNTIL 0600 HRS ON MONDAY, MARCH 22, 2021

 

 

TOWNSHIP(S): All Berrien County Townships


BEGINNING: Monday, March 1, 2021 at 0600 HRS

ENDDING: Monday, March 22, 2021 at 0600 HRS


SUBJECT: Seasonal weight restrictions or “Frost Laws” are currently in place on Berrien County Roads. The Berrien County Road Department will remove statutory weight and speed restrictions on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 0600 hrs

 

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS DURING SEASONAL WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS: 

  • Enacting seasonal weight restrictions reduces the “Maximum Axle Load” by 35% per axle MCL 257.722(5).
  • Speed is also reduced to 35mph for all commercial vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Rating of 10,000lbs or more MCL 257.627(6).
  • The maximum wheel load shall be reduced to 450lbs. psi. of tire width MCL 257.722(5).

All oversized vehicles are reminded to contact our offices to speak with the Berrien County Road Department Weighmaster regarding written approval for any oversized trips.
