NOV 30, 2020 - Berrien County has released a request for bid proposals to update the Hazard Mitigation Plan. The bid is posted on the County's Financial Services bid posting page. Proposals are due December 21, 2020 by 1 PM to the Financial Services Department. The work performed by the selected contractor will result in a FEMA approved and multi-jurisdictional adoption of an updated Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Emergency Management Office has set up a project webpage to report the progress of this project. This page can be accessed by clicking this link.
Once a contractor is selected, which is estimated to be in January of 2021, meetings will kick off to collect information about the hazards of Berrien County and how they impact our community. After understanding how our hazards may have changed, we will then have additional opportunities to meet and discuss how the impacts can be lessened. Each option will then be assessed to determine if projects can reasonably be put into motion in the next 5 years to accomplish the goals set by the various groups who will meet. Some meetings will be focused on gaining input from community leaders, but there will also be opportunities to gain public input. Stay tuned to our Hazard Mitigation Page linked above to learn more about these opportunities to comment.
