NILES – The Region 5 Homeland Security Board sponsored a Regional Dive Exercise intended to test teams’ capabilities to respond to a terrorism related incident in the 5th Region of Michigan. This includes our 9 County area that is boxed in by Berrien County, Saint Joseph County, Calhoun County, and Allegan County. All of these Counties, and those in between, participated in a 10 hour exercise that tested their ability to work together as one big team, test if they can communicate effectively together, and align evidence collection procedures.
“I want to thank everyone who made this exercise a success, to include LT Kirk from Van Bur
en County for serving as the Exercise Director. He and LT Zizkovsky of Berrien County put together an excellent exercise”, said CPT Rockey Adams. “Now comes the heavy lift of analyzing all of the data collected by our evaluation team to determine where there is room for improvement as we continue on our path to excellence”, he added. CPT Adams serves as the board chairperson for the 5th Region Homeland Security Board.
There were 107 total participants in this exercise. The information learned from evaluators will serve to make recommendations to agency leaders and to the 5th Region Board to implement them.
