TOWNSHIP: Lincoln Township & Royalton Township
LOCATION: John Beers Road, between I-94 and M-139
CLOSEST CITIES: Stevensville
START DATE: Friday, July 17th 2020
ESTIMATED END DATE: September 22nd 2020*
OVERSIZED LOAD TRANSPORTATION: Beginning on July 17, 2020 drivers can expect some delays along John Beers Road. Large generator components will be transported through Berrien County into Cass County, potentially stopping or slowing traffic.
Under a permit from the Berrien County Road Department, 26 large loads are expected to travel along the following Village of Stevensville and County maintained roads from July 17 until the last week in September.
TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: John Beers Road will be used to transport oversized loads from I-94 to M-139. These oversized loads move very slowly and will take up both lanes of John Beers Road. The public should anticipate road closures and delays on stretches of John Beers Road when oversized loads are being moved.
Oversized moves are planned to take place Monday through Friday during daylight hours only. Moves will not occur during inclement weather.
Crews may be working ahead of the loads to temporarily lift overhead wires along the route to prevent damage. Pilot vehicles will be escorting the oversized loads and state law enforcement will be assisting with traffic control during operation. The Road Department advises that any motorists or public in the area during these moves to drive cautiously and heed all directions from law enforcement and road escorts.
