ENTERPRISE WAY ROAD PROJECT UPDATE
TOWNSHIP: Benton Township
LOCATION: Enterprise Way between Sycamore Lane and Whispering Trail
CLOSEST CITIES: St Joseph and Benton Harbor
2019 CLOSURE END DATE: Tuesday, December 17th 2019
2020 PROJECT RESUME DATE: Spring 2020
PROJECT: The Berrien County Road Department and the Berrien County Drain Commission in October moved forward on an emergency drainage project on Enterprise Way in Benton Township. The project included removal of approximately 100 feet of road, curb, and guardrail on Enterprise Way, and removal of the previous 30-inch culvert that will be replaced with a new 36-inch culvert.
At this time, the road has been reopened with a gravel surface type that will be maintained over winter by the contractor. In the spring, the contractor will be returning to place curb and gutter as well as repave the approximately 100 feet of road that is currently gravel.
SAFETY BENEFITS: This project will extend the life and operation of the Woodridge Place Drain, reestablish the road embankment and replace guardrail on Enterprise Way.
TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: Enterprise Way is no longer restricted to traffic. At this time traffic is permitted to travel on the gravel surface until paving operations and the project construction resumes in the spring. It should be noted that drivers are encouraged to drive to the condition of the road as gravel road conditions can change quickly due to weather conditions. Remember to drive carefully and safely based on current roadway conditions.
Construction will resume in the spring of 2020.
