[ARCHIVED] 5/27/2019 Memorial Day Severe Weather Potential

BERRIEN COUNTY MI, 5/27/2019 -  The Weather Service, Northern Indiana is getting the word out that strong storms may come through the area on this Memorial Day.  Storms could pop up this afternoon (around 3PM-6PM), but our eyes are focused on the evening to overnight hours where strong storms are likely (about 6PM-12AM).

We ask for storm reports to be sent to the Northern Indiana Office using the methods described here.  You can look at other people's reports here.

More information about tonight's severe weather threat can be viewed at this multimedia briefing.  Highlighted impacts include:

  • Damaging Winds (50-65 MpH) likely
  • Isolated Tornados possible
  • Large Hail (quarter dollar sized) possible
  • Minor flooding in areas prone to frequent flooding
