Mamie Yarbrough serves the residents of Berrien County's 4th District.
District 4 includes:
- City of Benton Harbor
- Benton Charter Township, Precincts 2, 4
She serves as the Chairperson of the Finance Committee and the Board Chaplain. Commissioner Yarbrough also serves on the:
- Land Bank Authority
- Economic Development Corporation
- Parks and Recreation Commission
- Workforce Development Board
- Michigan Works Improvement Committee
- Pension Board
Education, Service, & Experience
Commissioner Yarbrough is a graduate of Benton Harbor High School and attended Western Michigan University. She has several certifications in the field of Housing Management where she was employed for 30 years. In addition to being employed at apartment complexes in the City of Benton Harbor and in Benton Charter Township, she also administered the Section 8 Housing Program for the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and has also been involved in housing consultant work. Commissioner Yarbrough also served on the Benton Harbor Area Schools Board of Education for a total of nine years. During that time frame she held the offices of President and Secretary. She is very involved in her community as President of the Benton Harbor Public Library Board, Benton Harbor Homecoming, Inc., and the Coming Home Coming Together Concert Committee.
Mamie is a life long resident of Berrien County. She and her husband, Charles "Mickey" Yarbrough (former Mayor of the City of Benton Harbor) are the parents of 2 children, Dawn of Milan, Italy and Nyles of Benton Harbor. Mamie is a proud member of the Second Baptist Church in Benton Harbor.
