Landfills

Berrien County is home to 2 solid waste landfills:

These landfills accept waste from residents. When you arrive at the landfill, pull through the entrance gates and follow the signs on to the scale. The folks at the scale window will explain how it works. Disposal fees apply.

Prohibited Items

Residential customers are prohibited from disposing the following items into Solid Waste Landfills in Michigan:

  • Beverage Containers - 1 gallon or less and are either soft drink, non-alcoholic carbonated drink, beer/malt drink, or mixed wine/spirit drink.
  • Lead Acid Batteries
  • Used Oil
  • Whole Motor Vehicle Tires
  • Yard Clippings - defined as grass clippings, vegetable or other garden debris, shrubbery, or tree trimmings less than 4 feet long and 2 inches in diameter that can be composted
