Plastic Bags

Many grocery and retail stores now have a plastic bag collection container usually located just inside the store entrance - check at your favorite store. Some local stores that provide plastic bag recycling are Lowe's in Benton Harbor and Niles; Martins Supermarket in St. Joseph, Stevensville, and Niles; Meijer in Benton Harbor and Stevensville; Wal-Mart in Benton Harbor and Niles.

Paper bags

Most curbside recycling and drop-off recycling programs will accept brown paper bags for recycling. 

Tips to Reduce Bag Use

• Reuse plastic and paper grocery bags when shopping.
• Use cloth bags - they are very sturdy and can be reused many times.
