About COVID-19

COVID-19 is a respiratory disease that spreads mainly from person to person through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes or talks. Some people who are infected may not have symptoms. For people who have symptoms, illness can range from mild to severe, including death. Adults 65 years and older and people of any age with underlying medical conditions are at higher risk for severe illness.

Follow these steps to prevent the spread of the virus:

  • Stay up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing or cough or sneeze into your elbow – never your hands.
  • Avoid contact with individuals who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
