i own or work at a dispensary and I want to keep my customers safe

The Berrien County Health Department aims to work with local dispensaries and distribution centers for youth prevention. Here are some ways to prevent accidental ingestion and youth use:

  • Offer these rack cards (PDF) for parents about talking tips
  • Offer these rack cards (PDF) about responsible use and safe storage
  • Offer these rack cards (PDF) about pregnancy and/or breastfeeding and medical marijuana
  • Sell lock boxes for safe storage
  • Use child-resistant packaging
  • Label products, especially gummies, brownies, or other products that would appeal to children. List the contents and the poison control number, as well as the legal age to consume the product (21 and over).
  • Consider how your marketing strategy may appeal to youth (signs outside of store, flavors offered, etc.)

Feel free to download and print the linked rack cards. You can also contact Lisa Peeples-Hurst, B.A., CPC-R, Supervisor of Public Health Promotion & Prevention Services, by phone (269-927-5690) or email ([email protected]) to request copies of the rack cards and discuss opportunities for collaboration.
