As a parent, you are invested in your child's safety. Here are a few tips to make sure your cannabis products are out of reach of little hands and any older kids looking to experiment.
Use a lock box.
Keeping your marijuana in a lock box and out of sight will prevent kids and pets from accidentally ingesting marijuana. Keep marijuana in child-resistant packaging as well.
If your child accidentally ingests marijuana, please call the poison control hotline (1-800-222-1222).
Watch for the following signs:
- ○ has problems walking or sitting up
- ○ difficulty breathing
- ○ sleepiness or drowsiness
If the reaction seems more severe, call 911 or go to an emergency room right away.
Beware of secondhand smoke.
Secondhand smoke from marijuana is similar to cigarette smoke because they both contain many of the same cancer-causing chemicals. When you smoke, avoid exposing children, pregnant people, and others who do not want to be around secondhand smoke.
Never smoke around children, pregnant women or anyone who doesn't want to be exposed to secondhand smoke.
