The Berrien County Friend of the Court is open to the public Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  An appointment is not required.  

There are employees in three main departments who work on your case.  Your case has a Domestic Investigator, Enforcement Officer and Account Clerk.  These are the three people you are most likely to speak with.

Domestic Investigator: This worker will assist you with questions and concerns about custody, parenting time, co-parenting, where the child lives, medical insurance and some child support issues.

Enforcement Officer: This worker will assist in enforcing child support once it is ordered.  They will help the payer with questions about income withholding orders, employer questions, etc.  They will assist the payee with enforcement if payments are not being made regularly.

Account Clerk: This worker puts orders on the Michigan Child Support Enforcement System (MiCSES).  They audit your financial account and make updates to your demographic and financial record.

Review and Modification Officer: These workers gather information to prepare child support recommendations for hearings involving child support only and for statutory reviews of child support.  You have the right to a review every three years and you may file a motion if a change has occurred in your income that you believe will warrant a modification to your existing Order.
