Hazardous Waste

If a product contains one or more of the following properties, it is considered hazardous:

  • Flammable
  • Combustible
  • Explosive/Reactive
  • Corrosive
  • Toxic

Look for words on the label such as warning, danger, poison, toxic, flammable, and hazardous.

Unwanted household chemicals and cleaners, outdated medication, garage liquids and chemicals, yard and garden products, mercury items, workshop chemicals, etc. should not be placed in with regular household trash. Getting unwanted hazards out of the home and disposed properly will protect both public and environmental health.
