Berrien County is a great place to visit and to live. Our corner of the state is blessed with beautiful scenery and abundant natural resources. Adopt-a-road volunteers play a key role in preserving the natural beauty of this area. This program directly involves you with your community and demonstrates a commitment and pride for the area in which one lives and works. The program works by having individuals, groups, families or businesses select a section of road that they would like to maintain. See the map (PDF) for roads already taken.
Responsibilities
A typical section of adopted road is one mile but other lengths are possible as well. Participants are supplied with Adopt-a-road trash bags and safety vests. A minimum of two cleanups per year are required but can be done more frequently if needed. There is no charge for adopting a road. Trash is collected by the Road Department upon notification that a clean up has occurred.
