School Recycling Grant
School Recycling Grant - SPRING 2013
OVERVIEW
Berrien County School Recycling Grant provides funds to support waste reduction and recycling projects in schools. Grant funds will go toward purchasing recycling equipment and/or curriculum and supplies to help carry out the projects. Projects should provide new/expanded, in-school opportunities in the 4R’s; reducing, reusing, recycling, and/or re-buying (buying recycled products). Grants are awarded for any amount up to $1,500 per school per school year.
The School Recycling Grant is competitive and based on innovative ways to introduce or strengthen the 4R’s in the school system, integrate or improve recycling collection throughout the school/district, and implement classroom programs and curriculums to enhance recycling activities in school. Especially critical is the long-term effectiveness of the use of funds.
To better help schools implement a comprehensive, long-term school-wide recycling collection program, Berrien County is working with Green Connection, Inc. to fund School Recycling Consultations. Schools interested in receiving a free on-site recycling consultation, can do so through this grant process. Outcomes from the consultation can help determine the number and types of recycling collection containers, as well as labels and signage, necessary for a complete recycling program tailored to each individual school. Included in the consultation is help filling out the School Recycling Grant Application for purchasing recycling collection containers for the school, up to $1,500 per school per school year.
ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS
The School Recycling Grant is open to any public, non-public, public school academy, home-school group, or school districts in Berrien County, MI for grades K-12; college campuses located in Berrien County; and other approved educational institutions.
